Happy Anniversary…to us!

Posted on by Tom Kurtz

January 3rd, 2007.  It was on that day 5 years ago that a small group of people at Time Warner Cable launched a regional sports channel without too much fanfare.  We were called Time Warner Sports at that time and were truly just happy to be on the air.  That has all changed, as we have grown tremendously during that time.

Channel 32 was a passion project for Time Warner Cable’s Jack Herbert, and that vision was brought to your TV screens by Bev Greenberg and Maria Tully.  Although both women have since moved on from TWC, they were integral in getting us off the ground and giving Time Warner Cable viewers a dedicated channel for local sports.  They also hired 2-time Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year Dennis Krause to be the main on-air talent and voice behind the channel.  Dennis has since gone on to win 2 more Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year awards with Sports32!

General Manager Mark Strachota now leads Sports32 into the next 5 years on the heels of adding an HD channel (1332) and Green Bay athletics to an already full slate of properties.  This includes Marquette athletics, UW-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Wave, Milwaukee Admirals, High School sports, Green Bay Gamblers, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, and more!

The anchor show for all 5 years has been the Sports32 Roundtable.  Never before has the Wisconsin sports fan been able to see daily sports talk on TV for that extended amount of time.  From our 1st show with WTMJ’s Lance Allan and former Marquette star Tony Smith to our 1,278th with Bill Michaels and Scott Wisniewski today, we have tried to give our viewers timely, interesting, and spirited local sports debate.

Whether it be the Roundtable, the “Dennis Krause Show”, “Sports32 Weekly”, “Inside Marquette Basketball with Buzz Williams”, “The Rob Jeter Show”, Friday night basketball, “Talking the Talk”, or great live college basketball…we hope that you have enjoyed the local flavor we bring to your screen every single day.

Please follow us on facebook, twitter, or sports32.com and let us know how we are doing.  We always love to interact with our viewers!  We would sincerely like to thank everyone for tuning in the last 5 years and we look forward to providing compelling local sports programming for years to come!

Thanks!

The Sports32 Team

I am so proud of Sports 32. I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw you at the Rose Bowl. This crew has made the dream a reality and really brought the whole market to an understanding of the importance of local sports. You have a forever fan. Congrats to everyone there. Go Sports 32! Maria
